Ponthir
Ponthir is a large village at the south-west of the county borough of Torfaen on the boundary of the city of Newport, South Wales. It is approximately six miles from Newport city centre and 3½ miles from Cwmbran, lying between the settlements of Caerleon and Llanfrechfa.
Afon Lwyd
The Afon Lwyd - (English: Grey River) is a small river in south-east Wales which flows from its source north of Blaenavon, through Abersychan, Pontypool and Cwmbran before flowing into the River Usk at Caerleon, which subsequently flows into the Bristol Channel in Newport. The river was severely affected by pollution from industry and mine discharge, and fly tipping, but during the 1980s efforts were made to improve the water quality of river and improve fish stocks.

Caerleon railway station
Caerleon railway station is a former station serving Caerleon on the east side of the city of Newport. It was opened on the Pontypool, Caerleon and Newport Railway line in 1878 after the PC&N had already been absorbed into the Great Western Railway. It was closed to passengers on 30 April 1962 and closed to all traffic on 29 November 1965. The Newport City Council unitary development plan and Sewta rail strategy set out plans for the station to be re-opened, but these plans were shelved.

Lodge Hill Junior School, Caerleon
Lodge Hill Junior School is located in Caerleon and is a few meters away from the neighbouring Infant school. The school has three yards all of a large size. There is also a large playing field which also belongs to the school. The school is in catchment for the very highly achieving school Caerleon Comprehensive which is a few miles away in Caerleon's village. Lodge Hill gives a good education and has many highly trained teachers and assistants.
Ponthir railway station
Ponthir railway station was a railway station in the village of Ponthir in Torfaen, South Wales, UK. It was closed down in 1962. The original station building is now a private house. A level crossing on the site is still in use.
