Red Lady of Paviland

The Red Lady of Paviland is a fairly complete Upper Paleolithic-era human male skeleton dyed in red ochre. Discovered in 1823 it is the first human fossil to have been found anywhere in the world, and at 33,000 years old is still the oldest ceremonial burial of a modern human ever discovered anywhere in Western Europe. Slade Bay

Slade Bay - marked on Ordnance Survey maps as "The Sands" - is a sandy beach near the village of Slade, south Wales. It is set in a relatively inaccessible location - being reachable only on foot and climbing over some large rocks. At the back of the beach, worked fields and steep gorse-clad cliffs are visible.
