Rhymney railway station
Rhymney railway station serves the town of Rhymney in Wales. Situated on the Valley Lines network 23 miles north of Cardiff Central, it is the terminus of the Rhymney Line. The station has sidings to the west of its single platform which are used for the overnight stabling of the diesel multiple unit trains – from classes 142, 143, and 150 – which are used on the line.

Pontlottyn railway station is a railway station serving the village of Pontlottyn, south Wales. It is a stop on the Rhymney Line of the Valley Lines network. Sirhowy Valley
The Sirhowy Valley is an industrialised valley in the eastern part of the Valleys region of South Wales. It is named from the Sirhowy River which runs through it. Its upper reaches are occupied by the town of Tredegar within the unitary area of Blaenau Gwent. The valley initially heads south-southeast between the ridges of Cefn Manmoel to the east and Mynydd Bedwellte to the west before turning to a more southerly direction.

Tredegar General Hospital was a community hospital in Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent, Wales providing rehabilitation and GP in-patient care with 85 full and part-time staff and 58 beds in two wards. There was a small 24 hour minor casualty unit staffed by nurses. The hospital was operated by the Aneurin Bevan Local Health Board until its closure in 2010.

Residents often refer to either Old Rassau and New Rassau or Bottom Rassau and Top Rassau to distinguish the different parts of the village.
Mynydd Bedwellte
Mynydd Bedwellte is the name given to the broad ridge of high ground between the Rhymney Valley and the Sirhowy Valley in the Valleys region of South Wales. It straddles the boundary of the unitary areas of Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent. The broad-topped ridge runs northwest to southeast and achieves a summit height of 486m at a point crowned by a trig point at OS grid ref SO 145060.
