Bodowyr
Bodowyr is a Neolithic burial chamber made of a few large stacked stones (also known as a dolmen or a passage grave) in a farmer's field on the north Wales island of Anglesey. It is under the care of the Welsh Heritage organisation Cadw.
Gaerwen
Gaerwen is a village on the island of Anglesey, Wales. It is located in the south of the island 4 miles west of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll and 4 miles southeast of Llangefni . The A5 runs through the village, and the A55 runs just a few hundred metres north. Facilities in Gaerwen include four public houses, two car dealerships, three churches, one Mormon meeting house, and a garden centre in the south portion of the village.
Pentre Berw
Pentre Berw is a small village located on the island of Anglesey, in north Wales. It lies two and a half miles south of the county town of Llangefni. A major road, the A5, runs through the village as does the disused Anglesey Central Railway. Indeed the village's most famous hotel The Holland Arms even had a station named after it. The village is located at the top of a gentle slope on the eastern edge of the Malltraeth Marshes.
Holland Arms railway station
Holland Arms railway station was situated on the Anglesey Central Railway line from Gaerwen to Amlwch. Located in the village of Pentre Berw it was known as Holland Arms because of the well known hotel of the same name in the village. It also served as the junction of the Red Wharf Bay branch line from 1908 onwards. The original platform was on the Down (west) side of the track and had a wooden building containing a waiting room and ticket office on it.
Llangefni railway station
Llangefni railway station was situated on the Anglesey Central Railway line from Gaerwen to Amlwch. A temporary terminus station was opened in 1864, approximately a quarter of a mile south of the current station. This station, near Glanhwfa Road, could be opened prior to the completion of bridge and cutting by which the railway travels through Llangefni. Once the portion of the line to Llanerchymedd had passed inspection in January 1866, the permanent station was opened.
Ceint railway station
Ceint railway station was situated on the Red Wharf Bay branch line between Holland Arms railway station and Benllech, the first station after the line branched from the main Anglesey Central Railway. Opening in 1908 it was a very simple station with only one short (60ft) platform on the Up (south-east) side and a wooden waiting hut. It was an unstaffed request stop with no goods yard or sidings.
St Cristiolus's Church, Llangristiolus
St Cristiolus's Church, Llangristiolus is a medieval church near the village of Llangristiolus, in Anglesey, north Wales. The village, about 1 mile from the building, takes its name from the church. Reputedly founded by St Cristiolus in 610, the present building dates from the 12th and 13th centuries.
Anglesey Coalfield
The Anglesey Coalfield is a minor British coalfield. Although it is situated in north-west Wales, this isolated coalfield on Anglesey is not usually considered to form a part of the North Wales Coalfield which lies in Flintshire and Denbighshire in north-east Wales. Stretching from the Gaerwen area to Malltraeth, it is around 9 miles long.
