Aberffraw
Aberffraw is a small village and community on the south west coast of the Isle of Anglesey, in Wales, by the west bank of the River Ffraw, at grid reference SH354693. The UK postcode begins LL63. Access by road is by way of the A4080 and the nearest rail station is Bodorgan. In the early Middle Ages Aberffraw was the capital of the Kingdom of Gwynedd from c.860 AD until c.1170. Under the eponymous Aberffraw Dynasty it came to be the most important political centre in medieval Wales.
Bodorgan railway station
Bodorgan railway station serves the hamlet of Bodorgan and the village of Bethel on the Isle of Anglesey, Wales. The stop is an unmanned halt, and serves as a request stop for Chester and Holyhead-bound local trains along the North Wales coast. The station, which was originally to be called Trefdraeth, was opened in October 1849 and had a small signal box a small goods yard and a water tower. The goods yard closed in December 1964 but the station masters house remains.
Malltraeth
Malltraeth (origin: Mall is a small village in the southwest of Anglesey, in the area of Bodorgan. It is now at the end of a large bay, which used to extend much further inland, almost creating a second sea strait in the area . After several abortive attempts, a 1 km-long 'cob' or dyke was completed across it during the 19th century, allowing land reclamation behind it.
Aberffraw cantref
Aberffraw was one of the three medieval cantrefs on the island of Anglesey, north Wales, in the Kingdom of Gwynedd. It lay on the western side of the island on Caernarfon Bay. Its administrative centre was Aberffraw, ancient seat of the Princes of Gwynedd. The cantref consisted of the two cwmwds of Llifon and Malltraeth.
Llangadwaladr
Llangadwaladr is a small village in south-west Anglesey, Wales, located around 2 miles east of Aberffraw and 3 miles south of Gwalchmai. It is part of the community of Bodorgan. The village's church (St Cadwaladr) is believed to have been a royal burial ground, and one of its windows dates from the 12th Century.
St Mary's Church, Tal-y-llyn
St Mary's Church, Tal-y-llyn is a medieval church near Aberffraw in Anglesey, north Wales. It was originally a chapel of ease for the parish church of St Peulan's, Llanbeulan, but the township that it once served, Tal-y-llyn, no longer exists. It was declared a redundant church in the early 1990s, and has been in the care of the Friends of Friendless Churches since 1999. Services are held once per month during part of the year.
Bethel, Anglesey
Bethel is a relatively small and quiet village set centrally within the wider community and larger Parish of Bodorgan. The village is located inland (approximately three miles) from the south-western coast on the isle of Anglesey in North Wales.
Tal-y-llyn, Anglesey
Tal-y-llyn is the name of a former township on the island of Anglesey, north-west Wales. It was located about 4.25 kilometres to the northeast of Aberffraw. In 1306, when a survey was carried out of the lands held by the Bishop of Bangor, Tal-y-llyn was recorded as having three free tenants, who together had about 60 acres, and nineteen unfree tenants, who held about 90 acres between them. This would suggest a total population for the community of 110 individuals.
