Mavis Grind
Mavis Grind is a narrow isthmus joining the Northmavine peninsula to the rest of the island of Shetland Mainland in the Shetland Islands, UK. It is just 33 metres wide at its narrowest point. The name means "gate of the narrow isthmus" in the local dialect. It carries the main A970 road to Hillswick in the north west of Shetland and is a few miles from the settlement of Voe.

Gunnister is a small 'abandoned' village at the North-West Mainland in Shetland. It is most commonly known for the Gunnister Man - the remains of a man from the late 17th century which were found by some peat cutters in a peat bog not far from the junction of A970 road.
