Westcliff, Dumbarton
Westcliff is a Council housing estate situated in the western part of Dumbarton, Scotland, across from Castlehill. It is one of the towns poorer areas and like the other housing estates in Dumbarton, it too has its share of drugs and crime. Westcliff was a originally farmland and was part of the parish of Cardross as was Castlehill, Brucehill and Westbridgend prior to the building of Dumbarton bridge which then linked Westbridgend forge with the town of Dumbarton.
Keil School
Keil School, in Dumbarton, Scotland, opened on 29 November 1915 as Kintyre Technical College, at Keil House, Southend, near Campbeltown in Argyll. After a fire destroyed the original building in Southend it was relocated and opened in Dumbarton as Keil School in 1925. The school took a lease on Helenslee House, a 50-acre (20 ha) site on the banks of the River Clyde. Helenslee House was originally the property of the shipbuilding family Dennys of Dumbarton.
Dumbarton Collegiate Church
The Collegiate Church of St Mary, Dumbarton, Scotland, was founded in about 1453 by Isabella, Countess of Lennox and Duchess of Albany. During the medieval period, collegiate churches took on the responsibility of caring for the sick and elderly within their parishes. St Mary's met these needs in a hospital attached to the main church building, and a separate leper house located at a "safe" distance from the town centre.
