James Inglis Hamilton
General James Inglis Hamilton, (before 1742 – 27 July 1803) was a Scottish soldier. He enlisted the British Army in 1755 and he commanded several regiments. He was the only colonel of the 113th Regiment of Foot. During the Seven Years' War (1756–1763), Hamilton fought in the Siege of Fort St Philip, the Raid on St Malo, and the Capture of Belle Île.

Airdrie and Shotts is a constituency of the British House of Commons, located in central Scotland within the North Lanarkshire council area. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) at least once every five years using the first-past-the-post system of voting. The constituency has existed since 1997; however, it underwent significant boundary changes in 2005. It can be described as a safe seat for the Labour Party, who hold it with a majority of over 12,000 votes.
Black Hill transmitting station
The Black Hill transmitting station is a facility for FM and TV broadcasting at Black Hill, on Duntilland Road, Salsburgh, North Lanarkshire, Scotland which is near the town of Airdrie. It has a guyed mast 306.6 metres (1,006 ft) tall, bringing the antennas to a height of 540 metres above sea level. It was built, by the ITA, in 1957 and is now owned and operated by Arqiva. The present mast is the second to have been built at the site.

Hartwood is a village in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. Nearby settlements include Shotts, Allanton and Bonkle. The area is rural, with fewer than 50 houses. Transport is provided at Hartwood railway station, operated by Network Rail, with an hourly service Monday - Saturday every hour between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley on the Shotts Line.

It can be seem from the nearby M8 Motorway and is often illuminated at night. The graveyard contains stones from 1624 during the covenanters times. The nearby Fortissat area contains the remains of the fortissat stone, a covenanters gathering place.
105.2 Smooth Radio
105.2 Smooth Radio is a Scottish Independent Local Radio station broadcasting to Glasgow and the surrounding area, owned and operated by Real and Smooth and broadcasting from studios at Baillieston in the East End of Glasgow. The station replaced Saga 105.2 FM at 6am on Monday 26 March 2007 and competes with BBC Radio 2, aiming its music at listeners aged 35 and over.
Forrestfield, North Lanarkshire
Forrestfield is a small settlement in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located on the A89 road, 3 kilometres east of Caldercruix and 4 kilometres west of Blackridge. Until 1956 the settlement had a railway station on the former Bathgate and Coatbridge Railway. This line reopened in 2010 as the Airdrie-Bathgate Rail Link, althouth Forrestfield station was not reopened. Cairneyhill Quarry, a whinstone quarry operated by Tarmac, lies 0.5 kilometres to the south of Forrestfield.

HMP Shotts is a prison near Shotts, Scotland. It is a prison holding all-male prisoners with maximum security classification. Shotts exclusively holds prisoners serving a term of 4 years or longer, with some prisoners being transferred from other prisons due to a need for a more secure environment. The prison was opened in 1978 with a design capacity of 528 inmates; Upon its last inspection by HM Inspectorate of Prisons in February 2007, Shotts held a total of 512 prisoners.
