Airdrie and Shotts (UK Parliament constituency)
Airdrie and Shotts is a constituency of the British House of Commons, located in central Scotland within the North Lanarkshire council area. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) at least once every five years using the first-past-the-post system of voting. The constituency has existed since 1997; however, it underwent significant boundary changes in 2005. It can be described as a safe seat for the Labour Party, who hold it with a majority of over 12,000 votes.

Upperton, North Lanarkshire
Upperton is a village in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, near Airdrie and Cumbernauld, about 20 miles north-east of Glasgow. It was formerly a part the neighbouring village of Longriggend. Until recently it was a site of a large remand camp, which is now closed, and was inhabited mainly by the prison service workers. After the camp's closure it was settled by new inhabitants and the new name was given to eliminate associations with the camp.
Greengairs Landfill
The Greengairs Landfill is a landfill site in Scotland that receives non-hazardous household, commercial and industrial waste from the North Lanarkshire area. Greengairs was opened in 1990 and features landfill gas collection systems which are used to generate electricity for export into the National Grid. The landfill is owned and operated by FCC Environment.
Hillend Loch Railway Path
The Hillend Loch Railway Path is a rail trail located in central Scotland. The path is approximately 14 miles long and follows the route of the former Bathgate and Coatbridge Railway between Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, and Bathgate, West Lothian . It forms part of National Cycle Network Route 75 which runs from Clyde to Forth. It is also known as Airdrie to Bathgate Railway Path. The railway has been rebuilt and the path will be relocated.

Wattston is a village on the B803, east of Greengairs in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is around 4 km south of Cumbernauld, and 4 km north of Airdrie.
