James Inglis Hamilton
General James Inglis Hamilton, (before 1742 – 27 July 1803) was a Scottish soldier. He enlisted the British Army in 1755 and he commanded several regiments. He was the only colonel of the 113th Regiment of Foot. During the Seven Years' War (1756–1763), Hamilton fought in the Siege of Fort St Philip, the Raid on St Malo, and the Capture of Belle Île.

Coltness
Coltness is the largest suburb of the town of Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The 2001 census indicated a population of almost 4,500. The name MURDOSTOUN was derived from the words MURTHOCK and TON which meant dwelling of Murthock. Murdostoun can refer to the ancient barony of the Scott and then the Inglis clan, the castle built by the Scotts or a bridge over the South Calder Water.

The prison was opened in 1978 with a design capacity of 528 inmates; Upon its last inspection by HM Inspectorate of Prisons in February 2007, Shotts held a total of 512 prisoners.
