Shotts
Shotts is a small rural town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located almost halfway between Glasgow (21 miles) and Edinburgh (29 miles). As of the 2001 census, the population was 8,235. A local story has Shotts being named after the legendary giant Bertram de Shotts, though toponymists give the Anglo-Saxon derived 'sceots' (steep slopes) as the real source of the name. Shotts was known for its mining and ironworks.
Hartwood
Hartwood is a village in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. Nearby settlements include Shotts, Allanton and Bonkle. The area is rural, with fewer than 50 houses. Transport is provided at Hartwood railway station, operated by Network Rail, with an hourly service Monday - Saturday every hour between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley on the Shotts Line.

Hannah Park is a football ground in Shotts, a town in North Lanarkshire midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland. Murdostoun
Murdostoun is or was a vast estate in Lanarkshire, Scotland, which includes a castle, (Ordnance Survey Grid Reference NS8257), which lies on the South Calder Water near the village of Bonkle in the parish of Shotts, Lanarkshire, Scotland. The name MURDOSTOUN was derived from the words MURTHOCK and TON which meant dwelling of Murthock. Murdostoun can refer to the ancient barony of the Scott and then the Inglis clan, the castle built by the Scotts or a bridge over the South Calder Water.

HMP Shotts is a prison near Shotts, Scotland. It is a prison holding all-male prisoners with maximum security classification. Shotts exclusively holds prisoners serving a term of 4 years or longer, with some prisoners being transferred from other prisons due to a need for a more secure environment. The prison was opened in 1978 with a design capacity of 528 inmates; Upon its last inspection by HM Inspectorate of Prisons in February 2007, Shotts held a total of 512 prisoners.
