The River Avon is a river in Falkirk, Scotland. It originates near Cumbernauld, flows through Avonbridge, through the Avon Gorge, through Muiravonside Country Park, Falkirk, past the west of Linlithgow and enters the Firth of Forth near Grangemouth. The Avon Aqueduct—Scotland's longest navigable aqueduct—carries the Union Canal above the river.

Avondale Landfill
The Avondale Landfill is a major Scottish landfill located in Polmont, off junction 4 of the M9 motorway. Avondale takes large volumes of waste from the Forth Valley and some from West Lothian. Avondale has the ability to accept Non-Hazardous, Stable Non-Reactive Hazardous waste including asbestos/gypsum and compliant Hazardous wastes. This is the first and currently only landfill with the ability to accept Hazardous waste to landfill in Scotland under the new Landfill Directive.
Birkhill railway station
Birkhill railway station is a railway station on the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway in Scotland, equidistant from Grangemouth, Bo'ness, Linlithgow and Polmont. The adjacent Birkhill Fireclay Mine is in the Bo'ness area and is an integral part of the town's history. Falkirk Council announced in February 2013 that the Fireclay mine would close permanently.

It was fought between a force of 10,000 men led by the Earl of Lennox and a force of 2,500 led by James Hamilton, 1st Earl of Arran. The battle was part of a power struggle in Scotland for control of the young Scottish king, James V.
