Rodel
Rodel is a village on the south-eastern coast of Harris, an island in the Scottish Outer Hebrides. It was formerly the historic capital and main port of Harris before Tarbert took the title. St Clement's Church (Eaglais Chliamhain) is a 15th century church that was built for Clan MacLeod and is dedicated to Pope Clement I. The church was built using local Lewisian gneiss rock. It overlooks Loch Rodel. This well-preserved church is currently under the responsibility of Historic Scotland.
Lingerbay
Lingerbay (Lingearabhagh) in Harris, Scotland, was the subject of one of the Western Isles's longest controversies. The original 'superquarry' planning application, submitted in 1991, was to extract 600 million tonnes of anorthosite rock over a period of 60 years, from Roineabhal, an isolated area of South Harris in the Western Isles. The proposal prompted numerous objections and led to the formation of a body called the Link Quarry Group (LQG).
St Clement's Church, Rodel
St Clement's Church (Scottish Gaelic: Tùr Chliamhainn, meaning Clement's Tower) is a fifteenth century church in Rodel, Harris, Scotland, built for the Chiefs of the MacLeods of Harris. It is dedicated to Pope Clement I. It is sometimes known as Eaglais Roghadail or Rodal Church.
Roineabhal
Roineabhal is a hill on the Isle of Harris, in the Western Isles of Scotland. The granite on the summit plateau of the mountain is anorthosite, and is similar in composition to rocks found in the mountains of the Moon. The area is part of the South Lewis, Harris and North Uist National Scenic Area. It is the site of the original Lingerbay 'superquarry' planning application, submitted in 1991 and finally withdrawn in 2004.
