Battle of Dunbar (1296)
The Battle of Dunbar was the only significant field action in the campaign of 1296. King Edward I of England had invaded Scotland in 1296 to punish King John Balliol for his refusal to support English military action in France. The battlefield is currently under research to be inventoried and protected by Historic Scotland under the Scottish Historical Environment Policy of 2009.
Belhaven, Scotland
Belhaven is a village in East Lothian, Scotland, and was originally the ancient port of Dunbar of which town the village has always been a part. Belhaven takes its name partially from the Biel Water. 'Biel' or 'beil' means "shelter", and other placenames include Belton, Bilsdean, and as in Robert Lauder of Beilmouth.
Belhaven Hill School
Belhaven Hill School is co-educational school for children aged eight to thirteen based in Dunbar, Scotland. The current headmaster is Innes MacAskill, who replaced Michael Osborne in 2009. The student population is around 130, including mainly boarding children and a small amount of day students. Notable alumni include Rear Admiral Sir Ronald Forrest (1923–2005) and James Chichester, Earl of Belfast (1990–present day).

John Muir Country Park
The John Muir Country Park is an area of woodland, grassland and coastline near Dunbar in East Lothian, Scotland. It is named after John Muir, a famous naturalist and geologist who was born in Dunbar and later emigrated to the USA where he developed his ideas. The park was designated in 1976 and covers 7.73 square kilometres, stretching from Belhaven (just outside Dunbar) to Tyninghame.
