Battle of Prestonpans
The Battle of Prestonpans was the first significant conflict in the Jacobite Rising of 1745. The battle took place at 4 am on 21 September 1745. The Jacobite army loyal to James Francis Edward Stuart and led by his son Charles Edward Stuart defeated the government army loyal to the Hanoverian George II led by Sir John Cope. The inexperienced government troops were outflanked and broke in the face of a highland charge.
Cockenzie and Port Seton
Cockenzie and Port Seton is a unified town in East Lothian, Scotland. It is on the coast of the Firth of Forth, four miles north-east of Musselburgh. The burgh of Cockenzie was created in 1591 by James VI of Scotland. Port Seton harbour was built by George Seton, 11th Lord Seton between 1655 and 1665. The town has a population of 4,493 as of 2001. Since the last Census in 2001, there have been many new houses built. The population is now about 5,460.

Massacre of Tranent
The Massacre of Tranent took place 1797 in the town of Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland. On 28 August, a proclamation was drawn up by local people to object to the enforced recruitment of Scots into the military, to be used either for controlling their own people or for deployment overseas. The proclamation contained the following four clauses:- We declare that we unanimously disapprove of the late Act of Parliament for raising 6000 militiamen in Scotland.

Preston Lodge High School is a six-year non-denominational school located in Prestonpans. It serves students from Prestonpans, Port Seton, Longniddry and the surrounding areas. The school has recently undergone a major new building/refurbishment project under PPP. The school has four associated cluster primary schools, which all students attending these schools are entitled to a place at Preston Lodge.
Tranent to Cockenzie Waggonway
The Tranent to Cockenzie Waggonway was the first railway in Scotland, opened in 1722. It was 2½ miles long and connected two towns in East Lothian, transporting coal from the pit heads at Tranent to Cockenzie harbour via Meadowmill. Horse drawn wagons were used which held 2 tons of coal. On the return journey the horses would pull 5 empty wagons back to Tranent making around 3 round trips per day.
Tranent Parish Church
Tranent Parish Church is a kirk belonging to the Church of Scotland. It is situated in the East Lothian town of Tranent 10 miles south-east of Edinburgh. The church lies in the north side of town, the original settlement, tucked in a small lane at the foot of Church Street at grid reference NT402734.
Blindwells
Blindwells is a place in East Lothian, Scotland. A former open-cast coal mine north of Tranent on the north-east side of the A1 just east of the Prestonpans/Tranent junction, adjacent to the estates of the Earl of Wemyss and March. The Blindwells settlement will consist of around 1600 houses, and is part of East Lothian's planned 4800 house total. The development is to include commercial aspects, not simply housing.
