Battle of Dunbar (1650)

The Battle of Dunbar (3 September 1650) was a battle of the Third English Civil War. The English Parliamentarian forces under Oliver Cromwell defeated a Scottish army commanded by David Leslie which was loyal to King Charles II, who had been proclaimed King of Scots on 5 February 1649. The battlefield has been inventoried and protected by Historic Scotland under the Historic Environment (Amendment) Act 2011. {{#invoke:Footnotes|sfn}}

Radio Scotland

Radio Scotland was an offshore pirate radio station broadcasting on 1241 kHz mediumwave (242 metres), created by Tommy Shields in 1965. The station was located on the former lightship L.V. Comet, which was anchored at various locations off the Scottish coastline, usually outside territorial waters.

Robert Gibb

Robert Gibb RSA (28 October 1845 – 11 February 1932) was a Scottish painter who was Keeper of the National Gallery of Scotland from 1895 to 1907 and was Painter and Limner to the King from 1908 until his death. He built his reputation on romantic, historical and particularly military paintings but was also a significant portrait artist.

This article is about Broxburn in East Lothian. See also Broxburn, West Lothian Broxburn is a hamlet consisting of a handful of scattered houses which serve the Broxmouth estate in East Lothian, Scotland. It is named after the creek upon which it stands, the Brox Burn. It lies about 1.5 miles south-east of Dunbar. On the Brox Burn is Brand's Mill, dating from mediaeval times.

Templelands

Templelands is a Georgian house in Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland. According to the listed building report for the property, it dates to circa 1820, but there are references that date it back to the late 18th century, and attribute it to the architect James Craig (1739–1795), more famous for his work on Edinburgh New Town. The late ceramist Margery Clinton lived at Templelands between 1995 and 2005. Today the house is a private home, partly operated as holiday accommodation.

Dunbar Collegiate Church

Andrew Carrick Gow

Andrew Carrick Gow RA (1848–1920) was a British painter who painted scenes from British and European history as well as portraits and genre. He was born in London on June 15, 1848 and studied at Heatherley's School of Art. He was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy, and elsewhere from 1867 onwards, and in 1880, he was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy, become a full Royal Academician in 1890.
