Dercongal Abbey
Dercongal Abbey (or Holywood Abbey) was a Premonstratensian monastic community located in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. The date of its foundation is not known, but it was certainly in existence as a Premonstratensian monastic community by 1225. The founder was presumably Alan, Lord of Galloway. Dercongal seems to come from Doire Congaill, Congall's oak-copse, Congall (Welsh, Cinvall) being a saint venerated by the natives of the area.
Dumfries High School
Dumfries High School is a comprehensive school with a school roll of around 1000 pupils and students. It is situated in a residential area of Marchmount in Dumfries, Scotland, adjacent to the David Keswick Athletic Centre, which provides sporting facilities both for the school and the local community. However the more recent DGOne leisure complex has replaced this for many functions. Dumfries High School has been on this site since 1961, and has been expanded and improved since.
Locharbriggs
Locharbriggs is a former village which has expanded greatly to become a major suburb of Dumfries. Its population in the 2001 census was 5,530 and it has further expanded since then. When added to the Dumfries figure of 31,790, the overall pupulation of the urban area approaches 40,000 rather than the 31k which is normally quoted. Locharbriggs is located 2 miles (3.2 km) northeast of Dumfries near the Lochen Water.

Nunholm Cricket Ground is a cricket ground in Dumfries, Scotland. The first recorded match held on the ground came in 1979 when Scotland B played a combined Central Lancashire League team. The ground held its first and to date only first-class match when Scotland played Ireland in 1988, which Scotland won by an innings and 43 runs. The ground is used by Dumfries Cricket Club.
Cairn Water
Cairn Water is a small river in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The river, formed by the confluence of the Castlefern, Craigdarroch and Dalquhat, flows for 11.5 miles southeast to the Cluden. The Castlefairn is joined by the Craigdarroch and then by the Dalwhat, both from its left, just below the village of Moniaive in the parish of Glencairn. The confluence of these streams forms the Cairn Water. The parish is named for the river valley.
