Airieland is a village in the Scottish council area of Dumfries and Galloway.
Glenlochar
Glenlochar is a small hamlet on the western bank of the River Dee in the parish of Balmaghie, Dumfries and Galloway. Glenlochar is located one and a half miles south of Balmaghie Kirk and three miles (5 km) north of Castle Douglas. The Glenlochar Barrage on the River Dee is part of the Galloway Hydro Electric Scheme. The buried remains of a large Roman fort exist on the eastern bank of the River Dee, opposite Glenlochar.

Threave Garden is located near Castle Douglas in south west Scotland. The garden is 64 acres in size, and is part of the 1,500 acres Threave Estate originally developed by William Gordon who bought the estate in 1867. It is now owned and managed by the National Trust for Scotland. The garden is home to the Practical School of Horticulture. The garden features a working walled garden, a rock garden, several ponds and water features. There is also a visitor centre and plant centre.
