The Ochil Fault is the geological feature which defines the southern edge of the Ochil Hills escarpment, Scotland. North of the fault, Devonian lava flows and pyroclastic deposits slope gently down, thinning towards the north. These are in part overlain by Old Red Sandstone rocks formed later in the Devonian period.

Upper Hirst

The Upper Hirst is a coal seam in central Scotland that was mined in the 1950s through to 2002, mainly to supply Kincardine Power Station, and later, Longannet Power Station, in Fife. This was a low-quality coal, unsuitable for most other purposes, and had mostly been disregarded previously. Its low sulfur content made it very suitable for power station use.

Tulliallan Castle is a large house in Kincardine, Fife, Scotland. It is the second structure to have the name, and is a mixture of Gothic and Italian style architecture set amid some 90 acres of parkland just north of where the Kincardine Bridge spans the Firth of Forth. It is the home of the Scottish Police College and has been since 1954. With effect from 1 April 2013, Tulliallan Castle will also be the headquarters of Police Scotland (the newly-created national police service for Scotland).

Formerly a mining village, the population is 484 as at 2003. A golf course and equestrian centre are located nearby and at Auchinbaird there is a fine example of a windmill built in the early 18th Century to drain a coal pit and later converted to serve as a dovecote.

Alloa Academy

Alloa Academy is a six-year state-funded comprehensive school, serving the town of Alloa in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. Its roll is over 800 pupils. It has four primary schools associated with it: Claremont, Sunnyside, Park and St John's. It also welcomes pupils from St Mungo's Primary. The school currently has 74 teaching staff. Kennet, Clackmannanshire

Kennet is a small former coal mining village in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. It is located 1.5 kilometres south-east of Clackmannan, by the Kincardine railway line. The village is a conservation area, designated by Clackmannanshire Council. Kennet House, the seat of the Bruces of Kennet, was located to the west of the village. The house was built or rebuilt in the 1790s for the judge Robert Bruce, Lord Kennet.

St. Mungo's Parish Church

The church is named after St. Mungo (also known as St. Kentigern), patron saint and founder of the city of Glasgow. It belongs to the Church of Scotland Presbytery of Stirling and serves the parish of Alloa. A chapel dedicated to St. Mungo is thought to have been erected during the fourteenth or fifteenth-century, which became dependent upon the Parish of Tullibody. Alloa had grown into a parish in its own right by 1600 when the Act of Assembly united the two parishes.
