Knockan

Knockan is an area and particular cottage in the community of Ardtun, in the south of the island of Mull off the west coast of Scotland. The cottage called Knockan is distinguished by its bright red roof and white walls, set by a small hill; cnocan in Gaelic means "little hill". The cottage is around 200 years old and was originally built by a weaver of the local crofting community. It is now owned by his descendants, the family of Donald Black.

Located in the south-western portion of the island known as the Ross of Mull, Knocknafenaig is an extremely well preserved township that shows many characteristics of 19th century and early 20th century living conditions. Although it is believed to have had medieval settlements, almost no evidence remains of these due to their organic nature.
