Holy Loch

The Holy Loch (Scottish Gaelic "An Loch Sianta/Seunta") is a sea loch in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Robertson's Yard at Sandbank, a village on the loch, was a major wooden boat building company in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. During World War II, the loch was used a submarine base. From 1961–1992, it was used as a US Polaris nuclear submarine base. In 1992, the Holy Loch base was deemed unnecessary following the demise of the Soviet Union and subsequently withdrawn.

Hunters Quay

Hunters Quay is a village in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Situated between Kirn to the south and Ardnadam to the north, Hunters Quay is the main base of Western Ferries, operating between Hunters Quay and McInroy's Point. It is home to the Royal Marine Hotel, which is over 100 years old. The 12-metre class yacht race in the 1908 London Olympic Games took place at Hunters Quay.

Dunoon Massacre

The Dunoon Massacre was a massacre that took place in Scotland in 1646. Men of the powerful Clan Campbell massacred men, women and children of the Clan Lamont. By 1646, the Clan Campbell, neighbours of the Clan Lamont, had steadily encroached the Lamont's lands. After the Battle of Inverlochy (1645), the Clan Lamont took the opportunity to lay waste to the Campbell's territory. The following year, the powerful Clan Campbell army invaded the Clan Lamont taking their Castles Toward and Ascog.

St Munn's Parish Church

St Munn's Parish Church is a Category A listed building in Kilmun on the Cowal Peninsula, Scotland. This church occupies the summit of a slight knoll about ten metres from the shoreline of the Holy Loch. The existing building of 1841 is on the site of a medieval parish church, endowed as a collegiate church in 1442 by Sir Duncan Campbell of Lochawe, and a tower of that period stands to the west of the present building.
