Faslane Peace Camp

Faslane Peace Camp is a permanent peace camp sited alongside Faslane Naval base in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It has been occupied continuously, in a few different locations, since 12 June 1982. In 1984 the book Faslane:Diary of a Peace Camp was published, co-written by the members of the peacecamp at the time.

Tail of the Bank

The Tail of the Bank is the name given to the anchorage in the upper Firth of Clyde immediately north of Greenock and Gourock. This area of the firth gets its name from the sandbar immediately to its east which marks the entrance to the estuary of the River Clyde. The Tail of the Bank was a significant point of embarkation for many travellers, especially emigrants, to Canada and the United States of America.

Rhu is a village and historic parish on the east shore of the Gare Loch in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The traditional spelling of its name was Row, but it was changed in the 1920s so that outsiders would pronounce it correctly. The name derives from the Scots Gaelic rudha meaning 'point'. It lies north-west of the town of Helensburgh on the Firth of Clyde, in the historic county of Dunbartonshire.

Clynder

Clynder is a place on the western shore of the Gare Loch, Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Historically in the County of Dunbarton, Clynder is one of a string of small settlements on the Rosneath Peninsula. It is almost directly opposite Rhu, and overlooks the HMNB Clyde base at Faslane. The hills immediately behind Clynder were formerly used as apiaries, the types of heather found there being particularly attractive to bees.
