Bruichladdich distillery
Bruichladdich Distillery is a Scotch whisky distillery on the Rhinns of the isle of Islay. It is one of nine working distilleries on the island. One interpretation of the Gaelic word Bruichladdich is "stony shore bank", referring to a post-glacial raised beach, though an alternative, perhaps more pertinent translation may be "rocky lee shore".
Loch Indaal
Loch Indaal (or Lochindaal) is a sea loch on Islay, the southernmost island of the Hebrides, off the west coast of Scotland. Together with Loch Gruinart to the north, it was formed by the Loch Gruinart Fault, which branches off the Great Glen Fault. Along the northwestern coast are the villages of Bruichladdich and Port Charlotte. Along its northeastern shore is the tiny village of Bridgend and on its southeastern shore is the island capital of Bowmore.
Port Charlotte distillery
Port Charlotte is a Scotch whisky distillery on the island of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland. The distillery is based in the village of Port Charlotte on the grounds of the former Lochindaal Distillery two miles southwest from the Bruichladdich distillery. The distilling equipment comes from the former Inverleven Distillery, Dumbarton, which was demolished in 2003. The equipment was dismantled and shipped to the island by barge.
