Askham Bog
Askham Bog is an area of peat bog in the Vale of York in North Yorkshire, England, south of the city of York, north of Copmanthorpe and close to Askham Bryan and Askham Richard. Part of the bog is maintained by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust as a nature reserve and is their oldest reserve.

Copmanthorpe train accident
The Copmanthorpe train accident occurred on 25 September 2006, at Moor Lane, Copmanthorpe, North Yorkshire, England, on the East Coast Main Line, south of York. A 55-year-old man died when 221 136, Yuri Gagarin, a Class 221 Virgin Super Voyager, on the 14:25 Virgin CrossCountry service from Plymouth to Edinburgh Waverley, hit his car at 21:01. The train derailed but remained upright and came to a stop further down the line. There were no other injuries.

RAF Acaster Malbis
RAF Acaster Malbis was a Royal Air Force station located 5.9 miles south of York city centre and 5.7 miles east of Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, England. It was developed from a small grass airfield at the beginning of the Second World War and its main use was as a training base for RAF Bomber Command before being used by RAF Maintenance Command from 1944 until 1957.
