Hayes Knoll railway station is found on the heritage Swindon and Cricklade Railway in Wiltshire, England. Hayes Knoll station was built, with an engineering workshop and locomotive shed, at a place where the original railway trackbed between Swindon and Cricklade includes an additional piece of land in railway ownership. It thus provides an initial destination for trains from Blunsdon railway station, plus engineering facilities required to operate the railway.
RAF Blakehill Farm
RAF Blakehill Farm was an RAF base situated in Wiltshire, England. The station was opened in 1944 as a base for transport aircraft of No. 46 Group Transport Command. In 1948 the airfield was a satellite of RAF South Cerney and used by training aircraft before the airfield closed in 1952 and was returned to agricultural use. The site is now a Wiltshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve.
Widham
Widham is a small hamlet now encompassed within the village and parish of Purton, Wiltshire. Originally, Widham consisted of a few houses along the highway and parts of Witts lane and the toll house at Collins lane, with Widham Common in the centre. In time, Purton engulfed the hamlet, and only one small area remains as Widham. This, in turn, was halved in the mid-19th century by the rail line between Swindon and Gloucester.
Cricklade Town Bridge
Cricklade Town Bridge is a road bridge at Cricklade, Wiltshire across the River Thames. Formerly it marked the ultimate limit of navigation on the River Thames, but the stretch of the river beyond Lechlade has fallen into disuse and the bridge can only be reached by very small craft. The bridge is single arch level crossing at the north end of the town. It was built in 1852, there being no previous bridge on the site.
St Mary's Church, Purton
St Mary's Church is in the village of Purton in north Wiltshire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the Diocese of Bristol. It is one of only three churches in England to have both a western tower and a central spire. It has been designated a Grade I listed building by English Heritage.
