Mid Sussex

Mid Sussex is a local government district in the English county of West Sussex. It contains the towns of East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill. The district was created on 1 April 1974, and replaced the urban districts of Cuckfield, Burgess Hill, and East Grinstead and nearly all of Cuckfield Rural. These districts had previously been part of East Sussex.

Ralph Wigram

Ralph Follett Wigram CMG was a British government official in the Foreign Office. He helped raise the alarm about German re-armament under Hitler during the period prior to World War II. In part, he did this by providing intelligence information about German re-armament to Winston Churchill, at a point in time when Churchill did not hold any position in the government of Stanley Baldwin; Churchill used the information to publicly attack the policies of Baldwin.

Holy Trinity Church, Cuckfield

Holy Trinity Church is an Anglican church in the village of Cuckfield in the district of Mid Sussex, one of seven local government districts in the English county of West Sussex. It was founded in the 11th century and was in the possession of Lewes Priory in 1090, but the present structure dates from the mid-13th century and was in turn extended in the 14th century. Victorian restoration included much interior work by Charles Eamer Kempe and stained glass by Kempe and the Clayton and Bell firm.

Providence Strict Baptist Chapel, Burgess Hill

Providence Strict Baptist Chapel is a former Strict Baptist place of worship in the town of Burgess Hill in Mid Sussex, one of seven local government districts in the English county of West Sussex. Founded in 1875 by two prominent residents of the town at a time when Protestant Nonconformism was well established in Sussex, the chapel continued in religious use for over a century until it was sold for conversion to flats in 1999.
