2007 Atherstone on Stour fire
On 2 November 2007 a major fire occurred at a warehouse near the village of Atherstone on Stour in Warwickshire, England. Four firefighters from the Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service were killed whilst tackling the blaze. This was the largest loss of life for a fire brigade in the United Kingdom for 35 years. In 2012, three of their commanding officers were acquitted of manslaughter charges and Warwickshire County Council was fined for failing to ensure safety at work.

Whitchurch is a small hamlet south of Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire, England. it used to be a detached part of Worcestershire until 1931. It consists of 5 properties. There are 19 people living in Whitchurch. The village has a Norman church and is the site of a medieval village, of which the fish ponds are still visible today when the river floods.
Preston-on-Stour
Preston-on-Stour is a village and civil parish in Warwickshire, England found some four kilometres south of Stratford-on-Avon. As the village name suggests the River Stour flows along its eastern fringe and the A3400 runs about 1 kilometre east. The village was historically part of Gloucestershire until in changed counties in 1931. The village church is dedicated to Saint Mary. The village did have an Infant and Primary School but this closed in 1974.
RAF Atherstone
RAF Atherstone is a former Royal Air Force station located 2.25 miles south of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England, 7.5 miles north-west of Shipston on Stour. The airfield opened in 1941 when it was used by No. 22 Operational Training Unit RAF as a satellite from RAF Wellesbourne Mountford. Through its life the airfield was home to a number of units before closing in 1945. Atherstone had its name changed during operations when, in May 1942, it became RAF Stratford.
