Middleton, Warwickshire
Middleton is a small village in the North Warwickshire district of the county of Warwickshire, England. At the time of the Domesday Book Middleton was under a Norman Overlord Hugh de Grandmesnil who had several holdings in Warwickshire. When he died it passed to the Marmions of Tamworth. In 1291 the estate was divided into three and Middleton was held by the de Frevilles. In the mid 15th century Sir Richard Bingham married Margaret Freville of Nottinghamshire.
Drayton Manor
Drayton Manor, one of Britain's lost houses, was a British stately home at Drayton Bassett, in the District of Lichfield, Staffordshire, England. The manor of Drayton was owned from the time of the Norman Conquest by the Bassett family, until in the 13th century, the male line failed and Margaret Bassett heiress to the estate married Edmund Lord Stafford.
The Shock Wave
Shockwave is an Intamin stand-up roller coaster at Drayton Manor Theme Park. It was opened in 1994, and is the only stand-up coaster in Europe. It is also the only stand-up roller coaster with a zero-g roll ever made. The ride, designed by Werner Stengel, was created as part of a two year, £4m project in 1993-94. The project also involved the building of Splash Canyon. The Shock Wave's station is located directly above Splash Canyon's station area, in the 'Action Park' area next to G Force.
Middleton Lakes RSPB reserve
Middleton Lakes RSPB reserve is a 160 hectares nature reserve, formally opened on 19 May 2011, created and run by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds at Middleton, Warwickshire, England, just south of Tamworth. The Northern part of the reserve lies in Staffordshire, yet the reserve is only a few minutes from the outskirts of Birmingham. Much of the site was, until its acquisition by the RSPB in 2007, a gravel quarry, operated by Hanson Aggregates.
Bodymoor Heath Training Ground
Bodymoor Heath Training Ground is Aston Villa Football Club's training ground, at Bodymoor Heath in the North Warwickshire district of Warwickshire, England. The site was purchased from a farmer by the then Aston Villa Chairman Doug Ellis in the early 1970s. The ground is situated near Fazeley, in the Tame Valley, by the side of the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal, a short distance from Drayton Manor Theme Park and Middleton Hall.
The Belfry
The Belfry is a golf resort in Wishaw, Warwickshire, very near Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham, England, and was acquired by KSL Capital Partners LLC in August 2012 Denver/USA Colorado. The resort has three golf courses. The Brabazon Course is the main tournament course, and the others are the PGA National and The Derby. The headquarters of The Professional Golfers' Association are also located there, as are a hotel, tennis courts and a leisure spa.
