Coombe Abbey
Coombe Abbey is a hotel which has been developed from an historic grade I listed building and former country house. It is located roughly midway between Coventry and Brinklow in the countryside of Warwickshire, England. The house's original grounds are now a country park known as Coombe Country Park and run by Coventry City Council.
Brandon and Bretford
Brandon and Bretford is a civil parish in the Rugby borough of Warwickshire, England. As the name suggests it contains the two villages of Brandon and Bretford. Of the two, Brandon is the largest. The villages are located within 1½ miles of each other, along the A428 road. In the 2001 census the parish had a population of 588.
Bretford
Bretford is a small hamlet in Warwickshire, England. It is part of the parish of Brandon and Bretford. Bretford lies at a junction between the A428 road (Coventry-Rugby) and the old Fosse Way. The name of the village comes from the old ford crossing point over the River Avon which runs just south of the village. The original Roman line of the Fosse Way was diverted to the west in the Middle Ages to its present crossing point.
Brandon Castle
Brandon Castle was sited overlooking the River Avon between the virtually adjacent villages of Brandon and Wolston in Warwickshire which in turn lie between the towns of Rugby and Coventry. It was originally a 12th century earthwork motte and bailey fortress founded by Geoffrey de Clinton. Around 1226 the de Verdon family founded the stone castle consisting of the keep and a large outer enclosure.
Coombe Country Park
Coombe Country Park is a country park located in Warwickshire, England. Although the park is geographically in Warwickshire, it is only a few miles to the east of Coventry and is managed by Coventry City Council. The park has been developed from the grounds of an old abbey, the buildings of which have now been converted into the Coombe Abbey hotel. In the 18th century the landscape of the park was design by Lancelot Brown making it an historically important site for the region.
Brandon and Wolston railway station
There was also a Brandon station on the NER which was renamed Brandon Colliery railway station Brandon and Wolston railway station was a railway station serving the villages of Brandon and Wolston in the English county of Warwickshire. The original Brandon station was built by the London and Birmingham Railway and was the only one between Coventry and Rugby. It was replaced by a new station nearby, Brandon and Wolston, in 1879.
Ivor Preece Field
The Ivor Preece Field on Rugby Road, Binley Woods, Warwickshire is the home ground for Broadstreet RUFC designed by SR Davis architects with the sports ground designed by Peter Jones Associates, Quantity Surveyors Bucknall Austin, project managed by Falcon House Project Management. The first game played here was on 1 March 2001 with the official opening in August 2002. The official opening day saw world cup winning captain Martin Johnson open the club and grounds.
Brandon Stadium
Brandon Stadium also known as Coventry Stadium, is located 6 miles east of Coventry in Brandon, Warwickshire, England. It is the home of the Coventry Bees motorcycle speedway team. It also hosts BriSCA F1 Stock Car Racing on the 1st Saturday of the month from April through to November. Since 1978 it has also hosted Greyhound racing, known as Coventry Greyhounds. Brandon Stadium's first speedway meeting took place on 29 September 1928.
