Newport was a rural district in Shropshire, England from 1894 to 1934. St Nicholas's Church is an Anglican church in the market town of Newport, Shropshire, lying within the Diocese of Lichfield. It is dedicated to St Nicholas, the patron saint of fishermen and of Early English and Perpendicular architecture. The church sits on an island in the centre of the town and is the main focal point for miles around. The buttressed tower dates from 1309, but the site had been used since the 13th century in the times of Henry I.

Cosy Hall

Cosy Hall is a community hall in the market town of Newport, Shropshire, UK. sited on the side of the Shrewsbury and Newport Canal. The hall had been a Music Hall in 1925, a Gospel Hall in 1881 and a coach factory in 1852. After the music hall went bankrupt Cosy Hall lay derelict until 1985. The derelict building and the land adjoining was purchased by Clare Boughey and donated to the Cosy Hall Charity for the sum of £1.

Forton Hall

Forton Hall is a 17th-country house situated in the tiny village of Forton, Staffordshire, close to the Shropshire border at Newport. It is a Grade II* listed building. It was built by Edwin Skrymsher of Norbury Manor, Eccleshall, in the mid-17th century. The porch carries a datestone bearing the date 1665. Skrymsher also re-built Aqualate Hall nearby later in the 17th century.

The cross was built in the early 14th century and was moved to this position in 1633 after the new market hall was built by William Adams. “ The Butter Cross The Market or “Butter” Cross of which this is the shaft and base, was originally set up in 1286 in memory of Roger De Pyvelesdon, and hence is also known as “The Puleston Cross”.
