Unitarian Meeting House, Ipswich

Ipswich engine shed

Ipswich engine shed was an engine shed located in Ipswich in Suffolk in the UK on the Great Eastern Main Line located just south of Stoke tunnel and the current Ipswich railway station. Locomotives accessed the site from Halifax Junction which was also the junction for the Griffin Wharf branch of Ipswich docks. The depot opened in 1846 and closed in 1968 although the site remained in railway use for a further thirty years. In British Railways days it was allocated the code 32B.

Ipswich Stoke Hill railway station was the northern terminus of the Eastern Union Railway line from Colchester to Ipswich from its opening in 1846 until 1860 when the present Ipswich station opened at the other end of the Stoke tunnel when the line was extended to Bury St Edmunds. St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church is a Catholic church on the Chantry Estate in Ipswich. It is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of East Anglia. It was founded in 1959. It had for a time been a Franciscan parish served by a small Friary, although the Franciscans withdrew in 1994. There is also a Roman Catholic Primary School attached to the parish, also called St Mark's.

Ipswich Blackfriars

Ipswich Blackfriars are ruins in the center of Ipswich. The Dominican friary was under the Visitation of Cambridge and was founded in 1263 and dissolved in 1538. Two sets of excavations, one in the late nineteenth century and one in the 1970s and 1980s recovered much of the plan of the entire complex, and particularly the church and East cloister range. Henry III established Dominican friars at Ipswich in 1263.
