Clare Rural District

Clare Rural District was a rural district in the county of West Suffolk, England. It was created in 1894. On 1 April 1935 it was enlarged by the addition of the parishes of Lidgate and Ousden from the disbanded Moulton Rural District, Cavendish and Hawkedon from the Melford Rural District and Depden from the Thingoe Rural District. It was named after and administered from Clare. Since 1 April 1974 it has formed part of the Borough of St Edmundsbury.

Newmarket Ridge

The Newmarket Ridge is a ridge of low chalk hills extending for over 20 miles, from Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire to Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, passing through the south-eastern corner of Cambridgeshire. The highest point of the Ridge is Great Wood Hill at GR TL786558, the highest point in Suffolk. There are numerous tops over 100 m, but the hills in this region tend to have quite steep sides but very flat tops, leading to very low topographic prominence.

Coltsfoot Green

Coltsfoot Green is a small hamlet within the village of Wickhambrook, Suffolk, England. It constitutes one of its eleven village greens and consists of a small green with a small tributary of the River Glem running through it. Until 2009 there was a small copse on the green which was removed due to the poor condition of the trees. Replanting was anticipated in 2010 but the Estates Committee of the Parish Council decided to leave the Green without further planting for the foreseeable future.

Chipley Priory

Chipley Priory was a small Augustine religious house, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, located about 1 mile north-west of the village of Poslingford in the English county of Suffolk. The date of its foundation is unknown and the first references to it occur in 1235. The priory never became a major house – a taxation roll from 1291 shows its income at less than £5 per annum – and by 1455 the buildings were ruins.
