Etherow Country Park

Etherow Country Park is situated at Compstall, England between Marple Bridge and Romiley, in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, Greater Manchester. It was one of England's first country parks. The River Sett is a river that flows through the High Peak borough of Derbyshire, in north western England. It rises near Edale Cross on Kinder Scout and flows through the villages of Hayfield and Birch Vale to join the River Goyt at New Mills. The River Goyt is one of the principal tributaries of the River Mersey. The 2.5-mile Sett Valley Trail follows the trackbed of the former railway line between Hayfield and New Mills.

Ludworth, Greater Manchester

Ludworth is an area of Marple, Greater Manchester in Greater Manchester. Ludworth Civil Parish was created in 1896; it was part of Glossop Dale Rural District until 1934 when it was transferred to Chapel-en-le-Frith Rural District. In 1936 it was transferred, along with Mellor to Marple Urban District. In 1974 Marple Urban District became part of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport in Greater Manchester. St. Thomas' Church, Mellor is at the end of a lane overlooking the village of Mellor, Greater Manchester, England. It is designated by English Heritage as a Grade II listed building. Brown Low is a bowl barrow most likely dating to the Bronze Age. An earth and stone mound survives east of Marple, Greater Manchester. It is listed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Excavations have discovered fragments of burnt stones and cremated bones. It is located in private land, just to one side of a public footpath running off Sandy Lane.
