Stockport
Stockport is a large town in Greater Manchester, England. It lies on elevated ground 6 miles southeast of Manchester city centre, at the point where the rivers Goyt and Tame merge to create the River Mersey. Stockport is the largest settlement in the metropolitan borough of the same name. As of the 2001 Census the town had a population of 136,082 and the wider borough 281,000. Historically, most of the town was in Cheshire, but the area to the north of the Mersey was in Lancashire.
Stockport air disaster
The Stockport air disaster was the crash of a Canadair C-4 Argonaut aircraft owned by British Midland Airways, registration G-ALHG, in a small open area at Hopes Carr near the centre of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England on Sunday 4 June 1967. 72 of the 84 aboard were killed in the accident. Of the 12 survivors, all were seriously injured. It currently stands as the fourth worst disaster in British aviation history.

Woodsmoor railway station
Woodsmoor railway station is on the Buxton Line, serving the Woodsmoor suburb of Stockport in Greater Manchester, England, opened by British Rail in 1990. It has two platforms and a ticket office with limited opening times. The platform for trains to Manchester Piccadilly can be accessed via steep steps from the humpback bridge going over the line (on Moorland Road), through the kissing gate at the end of Ferndale Avenue, or via the passage which is accessed from Crossfield Grove.

Davenport railway station serves the Davenport suburb of Stockport. The station is 7 miles (11 km) south east of Manchester Piccadilly on the Buxton Line. It was opened by the Stockport, Disley and Whaley Bridge Railway on 1st. , March 1858, as a result of a complaint from Colonel William Davenport, a local landowner, that the company had not honoured its initial promise to provide a station at Bramall Lane (at that time just outside the boundary of Stockport Borough).
