Caldon Canal
The Caldon Canal (or more properly, the Caldon Branch of the Trent & Mersey Canal), opened in 1779, runs 18 miles from Etruria, in Stoke-on-Trent where it leaves the Trent and Mersey Canal at the summit level, to Froghall, Staffordshire. The canal has 17 locks and the 69 metre long Froghall Tunnel.

Horton, Staffordshire
Horton is a village and civil parish in the English county of Staffordshire. It is situated about 3 miles (5 km) W of Leek. Horton Hall is a Jacobean manor house, built on the site of an earlier house dating back to the 12th Century. It was in the ownership of the Edge family from the 1330s until 1710. It was damaged in the English Civil War, and rebuilt by Timothy Edge from 1653; his initials with the date occur on the lintel of the gateway in the garden.

It is very similar to Mow Cop which is located on the other side of the valley of Biddulph. It is semi-rural and is the source of the River Trent.
The Hollybush, Stockton Brook
The Hollybush at Stockton Brook, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, is a public house situated adjacent to the Caldon branch of the Trent & Mersey canal, approximately 5 miles from Hanley just off the A53 Leek road. 'The Holly Bush' was originally owned by John Joules Brewery of Stone, and in 1911, Mr Jesse Jodrell replaced Mr S Podmore as the tenant. With a bowling green and tennis court it was the hub of village life.

Stockton Brook railway station
Stockton Brook railway station is a small rural station built in the 1860s which was closed in 1956 when passenger traffic declined, however rail companies used this line without stopping for an easy link to Stoke-on-Trent Station for years afterwards. This station belongs to the Bucknall & Milton junction to Leek-brook line.
