Wish FM is a British Independent Local Radio that serves the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan in Greater Manchester and the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens, Merseyside. The station takes its name from the initials WIgan and St Helens. Billinge Hill
Billinge Hill, also known as Billinge Lump, is the highest point in the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens in North West England. It is also the highest point of Merseyside. It lies in Billinge, within the historic county boundaries of Lancashire. A beacon tower is at the summit. Built as a summerhouse to Winstanley Hall in the 18th century, it was used for the Year 2000 celebrations.
Carr Mill Dam
Carr Mill Dam is situated north of St Helens town centre, on the A571 (Carr Mill Road), in Merseyside. It is the county's largest body of inland water, and offers picturesque lakeside trails and walks, as well as national competitive powerboating and angling events. It is home of Lancashire Powerboat Racing Club established in 1923 where club, national and international powerboat racing takes place.
Birchley Hall
Birchley Hall is a grade II* listed Elizabethan house built in about 1594, in Billinge, Merseyside, England. It is situated in postcode WN5 7QL. Birchley Hall was bought by Christopher Anderton of Lostock in about 1581. The present building was built by one son, James and extended by another son, Thurston in 1594. There is an inscription stone carved with 'TA 1594' on the front of the house, TA being attributed to Thurston.
Rainford College
Rainford College is a sixth form college located in St Helens, Merseyside. Rainford College was first given "sixth form" status in 1989 when St Helens council wanted to bring more of a future to the stability of youngsters throughout the area. It is a well balanced, high performing school which is currently second in the results table in the St Helens area, behind Carmel College. The actual college itself consists of small to medium sized rooms.
Crank Caverns
Crank Caverns is the common name of the remains of the Rainford Delph Quarry near Crank in Merseyside. It is a network of underground tunnels and caverns, as well as an extensive woodland. Information in the St. Helens local history archives states that mining began here as early as 1730, with a small stone quarry known as Rainford Delph. As the quarry expanded, cost of purchasing land in order to open cast mine it increased, so it was decided to opt for a different method.
Carr Mill railway station
Carr Mill railway station was on the Lancashire Union Railway in the Carr Mill area of St Helens, England. It opened on 1 January 1896 and closed on 1 January 1917.
