Meriden Rural District
The Meriden Rural District was a rural district of Warwickshire, England, which existed between 1894 and 1974. Its headquarters were based in the small town of Coleshill. Various boundary changes occurred to the district over the years. It gained area from the abolished Castle Bromwich Rural District in 1912. In 1932 it was enlarged by the abolition of the Nuneaton Rural District the Foleshill Rural District and the Solihull Rural District.
Great Packington
Great Packington is a hamlet near Meriden, Warwickshire. It is the home of the Packington estate, including Packington Hall, Packington Old Hall and St James' Church, Great Packington. To the east of the park lies the hamlet of Outwoods.
Coventry Way
The Coventry Way is a 40 mile (64 km) long distance footpath in central England that starts and finishes in Meriden. It forms a circular route around the city of Coventry covering countryside in both the West Midlands and Warwickshire. The path is managed by A Coventry Way Association.
Packington Old Hall
Packington Old Hall is a 17th century manor house situated at Great Packington, near Meriden, Warwickshire. It is a Grade II* listed building. An original manor house was rebuilt in red brick in 1679 by the Sir Clement Fisher, 2nd Baronet. In 1693 his nephew, the third baronet built another larger mansion on the estate. The new house became known as Packington Hall and from 1729 the new house has been the seat of the Earl of Aylesford.
St James' Church, Great Packington
St James' Church is an 18th century chapel situated in the grounds of Packington Hall, near Meriden, Warwickshire. It is a Grade I listed building. The church was built in 1789 to a design by architect Joseph Bonomi for the Earl of Aylesford as a private family chapel. It is said to commemorate the recovery of George III from insanity. The red brick church, in neo classical style, has an unusual square plan with four corner turrets topped with domes and finials.
Berkswell Hall
Berkswell Hall is a 19th century country house at Berkswell, formerly Warwickshire now West Midlands now converted into residential apartments. It is a Grade II* listed building. The Manor of Berkswell, in the gift of the Crown in the 16th century, was granted in 1556 to Thomas Marow of Hoxton, Middlesex, a descendant of William Marow, Lord Mayor of London, in 1457. The Marow family were in residence for six generations and built a new manor house in about 1670.
Berkswell Marsh
Berkswell Marsh is a 7.5 hectare (18.5 acre) biological site of Special Scientific Interest in the West Midlands. The site was notified in 1991 under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It is located in the Meriden Gap which is between Birmingham and Coventry.
