Selattyn is the name of a village close to Oswestry in Shropshire, England, on the Anglo-Welsh border. The village, which is considerable, is situated near Offa's Dyke, which bounds the parish on the West. The parish includes the townships of Upper and Lower Porkington (a crude transliteration of Brogyntyn), and also the hamlet of Hengoed (Welsh for Old Forest). The surface is undulating and well timbered. The soil is of various qualities, and the substratum abounds with limestone.
Trehowell Halt railway station
Trehowell Halt was a small railway station located about a mile and a half south of Chirk, just inside the English border south of an overbridge on the minor road between Trehowell and Chirk Bank. It was opened by the Great Western Railway as part of its halt construction programme of the nineteen-thirties, aimed at countering emergent competition from bus services. Although the Halt is gone the railway is still open today as part of the Shrewsbury to Chester Line.
Weston Rhyn railway station
Weston Rhyn railway station was a minor station on the Great Western Railway's London to Birkenhead main line serving the villages of Weston Rhyn and Preesgweene in England. It had an adjacent signal box and level crossing and immediately to the south were Up & Down Goods Loops. It had originally opened as Preesgweene (or Presgwyn?) and closed for the first time in March 1855.
