Midland Metro
The Midland Metro is a light-rail or tram line in the West Midlands of England between Birmingham and Wolverhampton via West Bromwich and Wednesbury. It is owned and promoted by Centro, and operated by West Midlands Travel Limited, a subsidiary of the National Express Group (NEG), under the brand name Travel Midland Metro (TMM). It opened in 1999, mostly using a disused railway trackbed. In Birmingham, it terminates at Snow Hill station.

The stop and depot are on the site of the old Wednesbury Central railway station, which closed in 1972, though the section of railway on which the tram stop currently stands remained open to goods trains until 1992.

It operated as a single track until a second track was added in 1872, and the only station on the line was located in Darlaston town centre.

Wednesbury Central railway station
Wednesbury Central railway station was a major intermediate station on the Great Western Railway's London (Paddington) to Birkenhead via Birmingham (Snow Hill) line. It was opened as Wednesbury in 1854 and was one of two stations serving Wednesbury in the West Midlands. It was renamed to Wednesbury Central in 1950 following nationalisation. It closed with the closure of the line in 1972.

Patent Shaft
Patent Shaft, formerly The Patent Shaft and Axeltree Company Est 1840, was a large steelworks situated in Wednesbury, West Midlands, England. It employed hundreds of local people from its opening during the 19th century, and was a key player in the Industrial Revolution that spread across the Black Country at this time, and gave the region its iconic name. A decline in the manufacturing industry during the 1970s meant that even the largest factories were faced with threat of closure.

Ocker Hill Power Station
Ocker Hill Power Station was situated in Tipton, Staffordshire, at a point where the Walsall Canal intersected the L&NWR Wednesbury to Princes End railway line. It was opened in 1902 by the Midland Electric Corporation for Power Distribution Ltd. (MEC) and supplied electricity at 7000volts two phase 50 Hz to much of the Black Country. At the time of its building it was stated that it was planned to be the largest power station in England.
