Parkgate is located in South Yorkshire, England. It has since been consumed by its neighbour Rawmarsh, from which it has been indistinguishable since the early 20th century. New Stubbin Colliery
New Stubbin Colliery was a coal mine situated in the township of Rawmarsh near Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. The colliery was situated in a deep valley. Along one side at the top of the valley runs Haugh Road, Rawmarsh and on the other a lane known locally as “Greasbrough Tops”. The first sod of the new colliery development was cut by Viscount Milton, son of Earl Fitzwilliam, on November 14, 1913 and it took until 1915 to complete the sinking.

A document of 1385 refers to Bridgegate in the town, which implies that a previous bridge existed on the same site. The road it carries was originally the main route from London and Mansfield to Barnsley, Halifax and Richmond. The current bridge was erected by 1483, when the Chapel of Our Lady of Rotherham Bridge was added.
