Biddlesden Abbey
Biddlesden was a Cistercian abbey founded in 1147 by Arnold de Bosco (de Bois), steward to the Earl of Leicester. An abbot was deposed for now unknown reasons in 1192 and in the 14th to 15th centuries there was a long running dispute with the parish of Wappenham concerning the collection of tithes. It was never a wealthy house for most of its history and would have been dissolved in 1536 if the monks had not petitioned, and paid, for its continuation.
Finmere railway station
Finmere was a railway station on the former Great Central Main Line which ran between Manchester London Road and London Marylebone. It was opened in 1899 and served the nearby village of Finmere. The station was closed 1963 and the line through it was closed in 1966.
Water Stratford Halt railway station
Water Stratford Halt was a railway station on the Banbury to Verney Junction Branch Line which served the village of Water Stratford in Buckinghamshire, England, from 1956 to 1961.
Fulwell & Westbury railway station
Fulwell & Westbury was a railway station which served the Buckinghamshire village of Westbury and the hamlet of Fulwell in England. It opened in 1879 London & North Western Railway who had taken over the line from the Buckinghamshire Railway that year. The station consisted of one platform, a ticket office, and two waiting rooms. The station was closed for passengers in 1961 and completely in December 1963.
RAF Finmere
Royal Air Force Station Finmere, more commonly referred to as RAF Finmere, was a former Royal Air Force (RAF) airfield situated to the south-east of Finmere in the county of Oxfordshire, a few miles west of Buckingham.
