River Thame
The River Thame /ˈteɪm/ is a river in Southern England. It is a tributary of the larger and better-known River Thames. The general course of the River Thame is north-east to south-west and the distance from its source to the River Thames is about 40 miles (65 km). It flows through the English counties of Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. The River Thame's source is several small streams which rise in the Vale of Aylesbury on the north side of the Chiltern Hills.
Culham Rural District
Culham was a rural district in Oxfordshire, England from 1894 to 1932. It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 from the part of the Abingdon Rural Sanitary District in the administrative county of Oxfordshire. The remainder of the sanitary district, in the administrative county of Berkshire, became Abingdon Rural District. The rural district council continued to be based at Abingdon, holding meetings in the workhouse of the poor law union.

Day's Lock
Day's Lock is a lock on the River Thames near Dorchester-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England on the Dorchester side of the river. The pound lock was built in 1789 by the Thames Navigation Commissioner. The lock is across the river from the small village of Little Wittenham and is overlooked from the south by the hills of Wittenham Clumps, with a particularly good view from Round Hill. The weir runs straight across the river from the other side of the lock island.

The Old Schoolroom, part of the former 14th-century guest house of the abbey, has displays of artefacts, illustrations and maps concerning the history of Dorchester and its surroundings. The area has been inhabited for over 6,000 years. It also houses a historical archive.
A415 road
The A415 is a British A road which runs from the A4074 at Berinsfield, Oxfordshire, to Witney, passing through Abingdon, Marcham and Kingston Bagpuize. It crosses the River Thames twice, at Abingdon Bridge and Newbridge. When UK roads were first classified in 1922, the A415 started at a junction with the A4 just west of Maidenhead in Berkshire. It ran through Henley-on-Thames and Benson to Shillingford where it joined the then A42. It left the A42 a mile west at Dorchester.
Sylva Foundation
The Sylva Foundation is a tree and forestry organisation established in 2008, and registered as a charity in England and Wales in 2009. It is based in a rural location in the small village of Little Wittenham in Oxfordshire, England. It is concerned with the advancement and promotion of sustainable forest management. It was the brain child of Sir Martin Wood and Dr Gabriel Hemery and was formed through the work of the forestry think tank Forestry Horizons, established in 2006.
1965 Little Baldon Hastings accident
The Little Baldon air disaster occurred on 6 July 1965 when a Handley Page Hastings C1A transport aircraft operated by No. 36 Squadron Royal Air Force, registration TG577, crashed into a field in Little Baldon, near Chiselhampton, Oxfordshire, shortly after taking off from RAF Abingdon. All 41 aboard, including six crew, perished in the crash, making it the third worst air crash in the United Kingdom at the time.
