Palmersville Metro station
Palmersville is a station on the Tyne and Wear Metro system, named for the nearby community. It was not one of the original Metro stations, and was opened on March 19, 1986, nearly six years after the Metro line. It is situated on the opposite side of the Great Lime Road bridge to the short-lived Benton Square station (opened 1 July 1909, closed 20 September 1915). Previously, the gap between Benton and Shiremoor had been the longest distance between stations on the system.
Seaton Valley Urban District
Seaton Valley was an urban district in Northumberland, England, from 1935 to 1974, when it was split between the districts of North Tyneside and Blyth Valley. It was created by a County Review Order in 1935 from various urban districts near the North Sea coast, particularly Cramlington, most of Earsdon, Seaton Delaval, and Seghill.
Northumberland Park Metro station
Northumberland Park Metro station is a station on the Tyne and Wear Metro Yellow Line. It serves a new housing development known as Northumberland Park. It is situated between Palmersville and Shiremoor, close to where the single-track freight-only Network Rail line diverges northwards towards Ashington. The station has proved popular with over 320,000 passengers using the station in the 2008-9 period.
Hartley Colliery Disaster
The Hartley Colliery Disaster (also known as the Hartley Pit Disaster) was a disastrous mining accident in Northumberland, England in 1862 in which 220 lives were lost. The disaster arose from a combination of the mine having a single shaft; and the fracture of a metal steam engine beam, blocking the shaft.

The A189 is a road in North East England, linking Gateshead to southeast Northumberland. The section within southeast Northumberland is also known as the Spine Road; and West-Central Route is used to describe its route around Newcastle City Centre. The A189 crosses the River Tyne by means of the New Redheugh Bridge, one of several bridges across the Tyne in the centre of the NewcastleGateshead conurbation.
Tynemouth Rural District
Tynemouth was a rural district in the English county of Northumberland. It was created by the Local Government Act 1894 based on the Tynemouth rural sanitary district. It initially contained the following parishes: Backworth Bebside Burradon Earsdon East Hartford Hartley Holywell Horton Longbenton Murton Seaton Delaval West Hartford Willington In 1897 the parishes of Backworth, Earsdon, Holywell and Murton became an Earsdon Urban District.
Stonelaw Middle School
Stonelaw County Middle School was a middle school in Cramlington, Northumberland, normally referred to as Stonelaw. Operating under the three-tier system in Northumberland, the school had an intake of pupils aged 10-13. The school was closed when Cramlington Learning Village opened in 2008. The school had extended classrooms in the form of a Science Laboratory, an Art Room and a Music and Drama Room, all taught by teachers specialsing in that subject.
