Trow Ghyll skeleton
The Trow Ghyll skeleton is a set of human remains discovered on August 24, 1947 in a cave near Clapham in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It was named after a prominent topographical feature located some 800 metres away. Although the identity of the body has never been ascertained, it has been claimed that they were those of a German spy. The unexplained death has been described as "the most notable" mystery over a possible Nazi agent in Britain.
Three Peaks Cyclo-Cross
The Three Peaks Cyclo-Cross is an annual cyclo-cross event over the Yorkshire three peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent, in Yorkshire, England. Organised by Bradford Racing Cycling Club on the last weekend of September, it bills itself as the "hardest cyclo-cross race in the world".
Three Peaks Race
The Three Peaks Race is a fell race held annually on the last weekend in April, starting and finishing in Horton in Ribblesdale. The course traverses the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The present distance is about 23 miles (37 km). The first known circuits undertaken by athletes, as distinct from walkers, were not made until the winter of 1948/49.
Ling Gill
Ling Gill is a gill (or narrow valley) in the Yorkshire Dales in North Yorkshire, England. Cam Beck, a tributary of the River Ribble, flows through the gill. Ling Gill is a rare example of a sub-alpine ash woodland. The site is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a National Nature Reserve, not open to the public. The Pennine Way passes the east end of the gill.
Alum Pot
Alum Pot is a large open shaft at a surface elevation of 343m on the eastern flanks of Simon Fell, North Yorkshire, England. It connects with nearby Long Churn Cave and Diccan Pot. The pot is accessed via a 1km private track on payment of a small fee from Selside Farm in the hamlet of Selside in Ribblesdale. Alum Pot has variously been known as Allan, Alan, Allen, Hellen and Hell'n.
