North York Moors
The North York Moors is a national park in North Yorkshire, England. The moors are one of the largest expanses of heather moorland in the United Kingdom. It covers an area of 1,436 km, and it has a population of about 25,000. The North York Moors became a National Park in 1952, through the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act of 1949.
Wade's Causeway
Wade's Causeway is the name applied to an ancient road in the North Yorkshire Moors, North Yorkshire England. It ran from Amotherby near Malton to Whitby passing roughly northward from Malton via Stape and crossing the River Esk at Grosmont, beyond which the route eastwards to Whitby is uncertain. It is thought to have connected the Roman camp at Cawthorne Camp with the garrison at Lease Rigg. The road is presumed to be a Roman road, but may be of medieval construction.
