Worlebury Hill
Worlebury Hill is the name given to an upland area lying between the flatlands of Weston-super-Mare and the Kewstoke area of North Somerset, England. Worlebury Hill's rises from sea level to its highest point of 109 metres, and the western end of the hill forms a peninsula, jutting out into the Bristol Channel, between Weston Bay and Sand Bay.
Grand Pier, Weston-super-Mare
The Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare is a pleasure pier on the Bristol Channel approximately 18 miles southwest of Bristol. It is located in North Somerset, within the county of Somerset. The pier is privately owned and is one of three in the town together with Birnbeck Pier, which stands derelict awaiting possible restoration, and the much shorter SeaQuarium aquarium built towards the south end of the seafront. It is supported by 600 iron piles, and is 400 metres long.
The Playhouse, Weston-super-Mare
The Playhouse is a 664-seat theatre in Weston-super-Mare in southwest England that hosts shows all year round including opera, ballet, comedy, music and pantomime performances. In 1946 an old market building, designed by Hans Price, a local architect, was converted into a 500-seat theatre. For the next 18 years this theatre, The Playhouse, provided the town with a great variety of entertainment. Stars included Frankie Howerd, Bob Monkhouse and Ken Dodd.
Weston College
Weston College is a further education college situated in Weston-super-Mare, England. The college has 7,500 students who are taught at facilities in Weston-super-Mare and Nailsea. The courses lead to qualifications including A-level, BTEC, and ECDL awards; the college also creates courses for industry, and runs some university-level courses, such as Bath Spa University's Foundation Degree in Performing Arts). The college is funded by public money via the Learning and Skills Council.
Weston-super-Mare Cricket Club
Weston-super-Mare Cricket Club is an amateur cricket club based in the town of Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England. Since the clubs formation in 1845, they have nurtured a number of players who have gone on to play for Somerset County Cricket Club and a select few who have gone on to play for the England Cricket Team. The first team currently play in the West of England Premier League, an ECB Premier League, the highest level of recreational club cricket in England and Wales.
Clarence Park, Weston-super-Mare
Clarence Park was given to the town of Weston-super-Mare by Rebecca Davies in memory of her husband. The cricket pavilion at the park dates from 1882. A multitude of sports have been played at the park, including cricket. The ground is owned by the local council. It is currently used by Weston-super-Mare Cricket Club.
Devonshire Park Ground
Devonshire Park Ground is a cricket ground located in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. It hosted two List A cricket matches for Somerset County Cricket Club; one in 1969, and the other the following year. It has also been the venue for a number of matches for Somerset's second XI, hosting a Minor Counties Championship match in 1972, and eight other second XI matches between 1986 and 1991. It is the home ground for Weston-super-Mare Cricket Club, who have played on the ground since at least 1928.
Odeon Cinema, Weston-super-Mare
The Odeon Cinema, Weston-super-Mare in Somerset is an art deco cinema building, designed by Thomas Cecil Howitt. Still largely intact and retaining its originally installed Compton organ, it is a Grade II listed building.
Tropicana, Weston-super-Mare
The Tropicana is a derelict lido site that once contained an outdoor swimming pool, in the resort town of Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset, England. It is located on the Bristol Channel coast. The Tropicana is located on the southern section of the sea front has not been occupied since 2000.
