Normanby Hall

Normanby Hall is a classic English mansion, located near the village of Burton-upon-Stather, 5 miles north of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. The present Hall was built in 1825–30 to the designs of Robert Smirke for Sir Robert Sheffield (1786–1862). The Sheffield family had lived on the site since 1539 and the family's titles include Dukes of Buckingham and Normanby and Sheffield baronets. It replaced a previous 17th century building.

Alkborough is a village of about 455 people in North Lincolnshire, England, located near the northern end of The Cliff range of hills overlooking the Humber Estuary at the Trent Falls, the confluence of the River Trent and the River Ouse. Alkborough, with the hamlet of Walcot about a mile (1.6 km) south, forms a civil parish which covers about 2,875 acres .

Julian's Bower

Julian's Bower or Julian Bower is a name which was given to turf mazes in several different parts of England. Only one of this name still exists, at Alkborough in North Lincolnshire. It has also been known by corrupted forms of the name, such as "Gillian's Bore" and "Gilling Bore". The 18th century antiquary William Stukeley mentions a "Julian Bower" turf maze at Horncastle, Lincolnshire, and in nearby Louth there was a "Gelyan Bower", which was mentioned in accounts of 1554.

Normanby Park railway station

Normanby Park railway station was a goods station, built by the North Lindsey Light Railway, in Normanby, Lincolnshire. Situated some 1 7/8 miles from Scunthorpe it opened on 1 August 1912, the increase in traffic on the line being due to the commissioning of new blast furnaces at the nearby works of John Lysaght & Company. Winterton and Thealby railway station was a station built by the North Lindsey Light Railway in Winterton, Lincolnshire, on their line from Scunthorpe to Winteringham. Atkinsons Warren

Atkinsons Warren is a large area of woodland in northwest Scunthorpe. It has been classed as a Nature Reserve, and includes a meadow grazed by rabbits, rough grassland, developing scrub, and birch and oak woodland. It also features tree carvings. The Warren can be publicly accessed on foot or by car, and is used for walking dogs and riding bicycles.
