North Walsham & Dilham Canal

The North Walsham and Dilham Canal is a waterway in the English county of Norfolk. It is accepted officially that this waterway is the only canal in Norfolk although it is the canalization of the upper reaches of the River Ant. This navigation was constructed with locks a little wider than most canals in the UK to accommodate the use of the Norfolk wherries. It is 8.7 miles long and runs from Swafield Bridge to a junction with the River Ant at Smallburgh.

Paston and Knapton railway station was a station in North Norfolk on the Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway line between Cromer Beach and North Walsham. It served the settlements of Paston & Knapton, through it was nearer to the former. It closed on 5 October 1964 to passengers and to goods on 28 December 1964. Mundesley railway station was a former station on the Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway in Mundesley, Norfolk. It opened in 1898. In 1953 it became the terminus of the line from North Walsham when the route to Cromer closed. In 1964 the remainder of the route was closed. North Walsham Town railway station was a station in North Walsham, Norfolk. It served the now closed Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway lines to Melton Constable via Aylsham, Melton Constable via Mundesley and Sheringham, and Great Yarmouth via Potter Heigham. It was closed in 1959 when the rest of the line was shut by British Railways, as it was considered unprofitable.

Battle of North Walsham

The Battle of North Walsham was a mediaeval battle fought on 25 or 26 June 1381, near the town of North Walsham in the English county of Norfolk, in which a large group of rebellious local peasants was confronted by the heavily armed forces of Henry le Despenser, Bishop of Norwich. The battle is significant for being the last occurrence of any major resistance during the English Peasants' Revolt of 1381.
