British Airtours Flight 28M
British Airtours Flight 28M was an international passenger flight, originating from Manchester International Airport's Runway 24 in Manchester, England, en route to Corfu International Airport on the Greek island of Corfu. On 22 August 1985, this flight was being flown by Boeing 737–236 G-BGJL, ("River Orrin"), when take-off from Manchester Airport was aborted due to Engine Failure on Take-Off (EFTO).

Lindow Woman
Lindow Woman, also known as Lindow I, is the name given to the partial remains of a female bog body, discovered in a peat bog at Lindow Moss, near Wilmslow, northwest England, on 13 May 1983 by commercial peat-cutters. The remains were a skull fragment, with soft tissue and hair attached. Police were called to investigate. For some years, a local man, Peter Reyn-Bardt, had been under suspicion of murdering his wife in the 1950s, and of disposing of her body.

1951 Ringway Dakota accident
On 27 March 1951 a Douglas Dakota 3 cargo aircraft registered G-AJVZ operated by Air Transport Charter en route from Ringway Airport, Manchester, England, to Nutts Corner Airport, Antrim, Northern Ireland, crashed shortly after take-off following the failure of the aircraft to gain height. There were four fatalities, two of the three crew on board and two of the three passengers.
Lindow Moss
Lindow Moss, also known as Saltersley Common, is a raised mire peat bog on the edge of Wilmslow in Cheshire, England. It has been used as common land since the medieval period and is best known for the discovery of the preserved bog body of Lindow Man in 1984. The peat bog was formed in a collection of hollows left by melting ice at the end of the last ice age.
Cotterill Clough Nature Reserve
Cotterill Clough is a 5.6-hectare nature reserve near Manchester Airport. It is managed by the Cheshire Wildlife Trust and lies within a larger Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The Cotterill Brook, which flows through the clough, is a tributary of the River Bollin. The reserve was purchased in 1934 by public subscription as a memorial to T. A. Coward (1867–1933), a famous Cheshire naturalist.
Saltersley Hall
Saltersley Hall is a country house located about 2 miles to the west of Wilmslow, Cheshire, England. The authors of the Buildings of England series describe it as a "lonely but high-status ... house on a sand island in the middle of Lindow Moss". The house was built in the 17th century, with additions in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed in sandstone and whitewashed brick with a slate roof. Its medieval H-shape has been rationalised to form a flat front with three gables.
