HM Prison Lancaster Farms is a male Young Offenders Institution, located on the outskirts of Lancaster, Lancashire, England. The prison is operated by Her Majesty's Prison Service, and is part of the HMP North Lancashire and Cumbria Estate.
Lune Aqueduct
The Lune Aqueduct is a navigable aqueduct that carries the Lancaster Canal over the River Lune, on the east side of the city of Lancaster in Lancashire, England. It is was completed in 1797 at a total cost of £48,320.18s.10d. It is a Grade I listed building.
Lancaster University Boat Club
Lancaster University Boat Club (LUBC) is the rowing club of Lancaster University. The club was founded in 1964 with the inception of the University by Sir Harold Parkinson and is the oldest sports club at the University. The club is based in the old Halton railway station and trains on the River Lune, north of Lancaster. Sir Harold also funded the building of the weir on the river, east of the club's Boathouse, in order to enable better conditions for rowing.
St Wilfrid's Church, Halton-on-Lune
St Wilfrid's Church is an Anglican church in Halton-on-Lune, a village in the English county of Lancashire. It is an active parish church in the Diocese of Blackburn and the archdeaconry of Lancaster. Halton may have been the site of an ancient Anglo-Saxon minster. Of the current structure, the tower dates from the 16th century and the remainder was built 1876–77 by Paley and Austin. The church has been designated a Grade II listed building by English Heritage.
Lancaster Cemetery Chapels
The Lancaster Cemetery Chapels are the three chapels, each built to serve a different denomination, in the main cemetery of Lancaster, England. The chapels stand around a central point at the highest part of the cemetery. They were all built in 1854–55, and were designed by the local architect E. G. Paley. The chapel to the west of the central point served the Anglicans, that to the east the Non-conformists, and the chapel to the north was for Roman Catholics.
St Michael's Chapel, Lancaster Moor Hospital
St Michael's Chapel is the former Anglican chapel to Lancaster Moor Hospital, to the east of Lancaster, Lancashire, England. It was built in 1866 to a design by the local architect E. G. Paley. Its architectural style is Neo-Norman. The chapel is constructed in sandstone with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. Its plan is cruciform, consisting of a nave with a west porch, north and south transepts, and a chancel with an apsidal east end.
War Memorial, Lancaster Cemetery
The War Memorial, Lancaster Cemetery, was built to commemorate those lost in the Crimean War. It was erected in 1860, and designed by the local architect E. G. Paley. Its estimated cost was £120–140, but Paley made no charge for it. The monument is constructed in carboniferous limestone and consists of an obelisk on three steps. Its inscriptions include the names of the local men who died in the war. The obelisk stands 34 feet high.
Quernmore Park
Quernmore Park Hall is a grade II* listed Georgian country house which stands in a 20 acre estate in the village of Quernmore, part of the city of Lancaster, England. The house consists of a main 3-storey block with set back pavilions at each end. The main block is built of sandstone ashlar with 5 bays on three sides, a hipped slate roof and a central Ionic entrance portico. It has 15 bedrooms and 4 reception rooms.
